Using the Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs help users understand where they are in your documentation hierarchy and quickly jump back to broader topics.

🧩 What Are Breadcrumbs?

Breadcrumbs are a small navigation element (usually above the page title) that shows the user’s path through your site.

Example: Home > User Guide > Viewing Documentation Cards

🎯 Why Use Them?

  • Enhances navigation
  • Reduces bounce rate
  • Improves SEO by reinforcing internal linking
  • Increases accessibility for screen reader users

⚙️ How to Enable Breadcrumbs:

Breadcrumbs are built into the theme and appear automatically when:

  • A page has a parent
  • You’ve set up a nested page structure

To manually control breadcrumbs:

  1. Go to Documentation
  2. Toggle “Enable Breadcrumbs”
  3. Optionally, customize the separator (> by default)

📐 Styling Breadcrumbs:

  • Inherit the theme’s font and color scheme
  • Responsive on small devices
  • You can style them further via Custom CSS

🧭 Tip: Use clear, short titles for pages to keep breadcrumbs clean and readable.
